Read the current demand and the goods accepted for payment. Protect essential supplies first, then compare affordable payment tiers and rewards instead of overpaying automatically.
Based on the sources below. Planning suggestions are editorial guidance; this is not a claim of hands-on testing on the latest build.
Plan from the current bill
Tax debt reflects more than a single collection visit. Review the daily breakdown and upcoming arrivals, particularly after accepting supplies or increasing industry. Do not assume that the timing or cost in another player's guide matches your difficulty settings.
Reserve the right goods
The Claws generally accept raw goods, with Gold Bullion as an important exception. A warehouse full of refined products may therefore not cover the demand. Check the payment panel before earmarking inventory.
- Compare accepted goods with actual stored stock.
- Protect food and materials needed for essential operation.
- Account for supplies that add to debt.
- Review winter debt before spring collections resume.
Compare rewards with the cost
The documented reward thresholds are 100%, 125% and 175%. Higher payment tiers offer better rewards, but the materials leaving your colony still have an opportunity cost. Our suggested decision is to identify the reward you need, then ask whether paying for it will create a more urgent shortage.
Keep taxes and pirate demands separate
Different visitors accept different goods and have different consequences for underpayment. Read the current visitor's panel each time. If a bill is difficult to cover, trace why the debt grew and change the repeated cause; relying on a one-time rescue shipment may leave the next bill harder to meet.
